Skills can be used more quickly than 2. I'm sorry Claus you should never. Put full chained combos into a macro. It'll just lead to disaster. I haven't run into a disaster scenario.
They usually stop at "it's bad, that's a horrible idea. The echo macro's only purpose is to cancel any existing macro's execution for when it is called for. I can't micro manage my keys like others can, but if I know the fight, I can tank it well enough. If I am not holding hate, it is more likely I screwed up, which could just as easily happen without macros. Do I think macros should be your only means of combos? Absolutely not!
This style of play works to balance out some other places I am weak in. If I could work out an action bar set up that is better or find a way to more reliably use more of my keyboard, that could change.
Cons include the a layer of complexity I've added by needing to cancel macros or manually trigger skills, which won't work for a lot of people. If I am doing casual content, what I lose in frequency should not trigger a disaster because I should still be in control in all other ways. If I can't keep up hate or the damage is critical, then it isn't content I should be casual with.Interactive grouped bar chart d3
You've already pointed out one of the issues in your own post Claus. You've already mentioned "In case the macro fails" in both your posts about using Macros in Casual play, along with you're already saying you have to have the regular ability on your bar just in that particular case of failure as well as a completely separate macro JUST to cancel the ability. So at the moment for just your Warrior Set up along you must have, Six Abilities and Four Macros alone just for your play at the moment.
With how you're set up now you're also clipping GCDs and thus losing effectiveness and even missing portions of your combo because your macro has a failure rate. All of this is moot though as you'd never have to worry about any of those things happening if you just don't use the macros. One thing I also want to point out since this is a public section of the Forums you should be trying to put up information that'll make your job function at a more optimal pace instead of information that is not optimal.Bernice is infatuated.
Fortunately, it's with Melvin, her boyfriend. Melvin's an introvert, and he doesn't talk very much. This is a Godsend for Bernice. Not only does that give her ample opportunity to hear herself talk, but it means Melvin is her perfect, er, man biologically, at least. I hear him say "Hello" to her on the way to his desk. She rushes over to me, gushing. He's so romantic! He just promised to help pick out china patterns for our new home. What new home? Bernice is hearing a bit more than what Melvin actually said.
He says one word, and she fills in the details. All of the details. Bernice, when infatuated, is a text macro.
You surely remember my episode on how to use text macros and templatesa mere episodes ago. Macros let you type a few short characters and have those expand into much longer text. Some handheld devices like the Blackberry have this capability built in. It's called autocorrect on the Blackberry.
You tell the Blackberry what your abbreviation is and what it should expand into, and voila, you're on your way. Many desktop products also offer autocorrect capabilities. How to Create Text Macros Once you have the ability to turn abbreviations into full-fledged text, you need to have some abbreviations to expand!
Using text macros
Marlena wrote in asking how to choose abbreviations for macros and expanded text. After all, if you use a lot of abbreviations, it becomes hard to keep track.
I have different abbreviation conventions for different kinds of text I might want to type. This led me to tinkering around with user macros, a very useful tool for automating all sorts of things in the game and making things a tiny bit friendlier to my user experience. There are lots of quality of life improvements that macros can help you with, and yes, even some limited benefits when it comes to combat. No need to rewrite all your macros when you start a new character.
You can have macros in each tab. The right-hand side of the user macros window is where the selected macro is displayed. You can click on that to select from a number of preset icons. The body of the macro gives you 15 lines. Remember you can drag and drop macros from the user macros window onto your hotbar so you can activate them just like other actions. There are a number of default macro icons in the user macros interface that you can view and choose from easily. With a macro selected in the user macros window, click on the grey box to the left of the name of the macro, and select from several pages of default icons.
These cover a variety of generic symbols but also some game-related ones as well. You can even use icons for pet commands, items, waymarks, emotes, and tons more. Skills for combat, crafting, and gathering jobs do not need a category tag after the skill name, since it assumes the [action] category by default.
Note that you will need quotations for icons that have more than one word. Names that are merely hyphenated do not require quotations. Unfortunately not all items in a category seem to work. Traits, squadron commands, and system menu icons were all things I tried and failed to use as macro icons.
If a macro performs an action that was unsuccessful, like trying to resurrect a living party member, shield your target with no target set, or use a skill without the resources to do so, you will receive an error message in chat. These can be annoying, and if many can go off, can flood the chat window.
Most macros I use include one of the following lines to prevent this:. Wait commands can only wait in whole second intervals. So, you cannot wait 2. You can put these either on their own line or at the end of another line. They should be functionally identical. Crafting macros use these a lot since you have to wait for the animation to play before using the next skill.
They can quickly be activated with the press of a button. Be careful not to spam these sorts of macros, though. Macros are extremely commonly used in PUGs pick-up groups in the party finder for savage fights. These duties are more complicated than casual content and have a lot of moving parts.
This means there are lots of times where every party member needs to be somewhere specific to perform mechanics correctly. Strategies change as people try new things with the fight, and come up with more efficient tactics. If you like it, ask them for a link or copy it yourself and paste it into your user macros.A text macro is a shortcut for a sequence of keystrokes. A macro can be simple—it can type a word or phrase you use often—or it can be complex, such as a formatted address.
A macro code is the name of the text macro you create. By default, inserted or swapped macro text uses the style attributes of the destination paragraph.
You can replace the macro code with macro text automatically while typing, by using a macro key shortcut, or by choosing Swap Macro Text from the Text Macros panel menu. Use the Duplicate Macro command to create a copy of an existing macro.
The duplicate macro is assigned the same code as the original, but with a number appended to it, and is listed immediately after the original macro in the Text Macros panel.
Note: Once you delete a macro, you cannot undo the deletion. You can insert macro text in three different ways: Using the Insert Macro Text command to insert macro text at the insertion point, having macro text inserted automatically while typing, or swapping existing text with macro text. If Automatically Swap Macro Text is selected, macro codes are automatically converted to macro text while you type.
The macro code is case-sensitive. The Swap Macro Text command searches the text immediately preceding the current text insertion point for any defined macro code case-sensitive and, if one is found, removes the macro code and replaces it with the associated macro text.
To use the macro, type The CDCand then with the text insertion point placed immediately following the macro code, choose Swap Macro Text.
InCopy then searches the text immediately preceding the insertion point and replaces CDC with the macro text Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Note: The Swap Macro Text command does not continue to search the entire document for every occurrence of the macro code. Using text macros Search. Adobe InCopy User Guide. Final thoughts. Let me start by first saying that macros should never, ever, EVER, be used to imitate or replace skill rotations.Omogeneizzato 4 frutti 2 x 104 g in plasmon
There are several reasons for this, but the three big ones are: 1 - Your basic skills have an unadjusted cooldown of 2. This means that by using a macro to perform your basic rotation for you, you are wasting the chance to use an ability every 6 actions.
Macro'd abilities will not be queued, either; so if you decide to throw in an ability in the middle of your macro, anything it tries to do while your character is busy will not be parsed. Any number of situations can throw you off, like an AoE you have to dodge or a better ability proccing. If you use macros to do the bulk of your work for you, you won't learn to use your abilities to their greatest potential - and you can't macro in what you don't know how to use. The simple yardstick is "Utility".
Macros should help you play your class effectively and efficently; to stop you struggling to find the buff you need or mashing out an important message to your party in the middle of your skill rotation. When you ask yourself "What do I want this macro to do? Okay, so you want to make a macro.
